Every earlier pickup on a project has an obvious trigger. Demolition finishes and there is a pile. The cabinets arrive and there is a driveway of cardboard. The final clear has no trigger at all — it is defined by the absence of work rather than the completion of it, so nobody books it until somebody needs the space.
By then it is usually urgent, because what it is blocking is a photograph, a snagging walk or a set of keys. That is the whole argument for scheduling it at the same time you schedule the last trade rather than after them.
It is also the smallest load of the project, which catches people out in the other direction: the volume is modest but it is spread across five locations — a garage corner, a side return, a spare room, the back of a van and whatever is still on the drive. Collecting it takes longer than its size suggests.

- Can you come out of hours on a commercial site?
- Yes. Evening and early morning windows are available and are usually easier on an occupied building.
