How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Plano?

The short answer is that it tracks the share of a truck your load will occupy. The useful answer is knowing what shifts that share, so you can judge a quote instead of simply accepting one.

Junk removal in Plano is priced by volume, not by the hour. That single fact explains most of what people find confusing about quotes, and it is worth understanding before you compare two of them.

A truck has a fixed capacity, a fixed running cost and a fixed tipping cost at the far end. Those are the real costs of a job. The number of minutes a crew spends on your driveway is almost irrelevant to them — which is why an hourly rate would be both a worse predictor of cost and a genuinely perverse incentive.

How loads are described

These are volumes, not prices. Your number comes from the quote flow against your actual load.

Load sizeA Plano example
Single itemOne sofa from a Willow Bend living room, or one mattress from an apartment near Legacy.
Minimum loadA washer and dryer pair, or a small pile of boxes and a chair.
1/4 loadA spare bedroom that became storage, or a modest kerbside pile.
1/2 loadA single-bay garage in east Plano, or a kitchen strip-out.
3/4 loadA large two-car garage, or a two-bedroom apartment turnover.
Full loadA whole-property clear-out, or a packed three-car garage in West Plano or Frisco.

The four things that change the number

**Weight, when the material is dense.** Most loads are pure volume. Concrete, brick, tile, stone, plaster and large weight-plate collections are not — a small pile of any of them outweighs a truck of furniture. If your load includes them, say so, because a volume-only quote will be wrong.

**Disposal fees on specific items.** Refrigeration is the main one: refrigerant has to be recovered by someone equipped to do it, and that is a real regulated cost. Tyres carry a fee too. Both should appear in your quoted price rather than arriving afterwards.

**Dismantling time.** A hot tub cut down to clear a gate, a shed taken apart, a treadmill broken down, a cubicle farm stripped panel by panel — these take genuine time before anything can be loaded. Flag them at quote stage.

**Exceptional carries.** Stairs are free and normal carries are free. A load two hundred yards from anywhere a truck can legally park is a different job, and that is worth mentioning for an acreage property in Parker or Lucas.

What does not change the number

Distance within the branch territory does not. A load in Prosper is priced the same as the identical load in Plano — what distance affects is which appointment windows are open, not the rate.

Neither does how quickly the crew works, whether you are home, or whether the job is residential or commercial. Stairs are not a surcharge. Nor is a Saturday.

Getting a number you can rely on

  1. 1

    Photograph everything

Wide shots of each space, standing far enough back to get it all in frame.

  2. 2

    Include the forgotten spaces

Attic, garage, shed and side return are what turn a half-day into a full one.

  3. 3

    Name the heavy material

Tile, stone, concrete or plaster — say it rather than describing "debris".

  4. 4

    Describe the carry

Floor, stairs, lift, gate, and how far the truck can get.

Compare quotes on the same basis

If one company quotes by volume and another by the hour, you are not comparing anything. Ask both what load fraction they are pricing.

FAQ

Questions on this

Why will nobody publish a price list?
Because a price list would have to assume a load, and the assumption is where it goes wrong. Any published figure is either so wide it is useless or so specific it is misleading. A quote against photographs of your actual load is the only number worth having.
Is there a call-out fee?
No. There is a minimum load, which is the smallest amount of truck space it is practical to dispatch for. A single sofa or appliance sits inside it.
What if the job is bigger than the photographs showed?
You are told before loading starts, not afterwards on an invoice. That is the only fair way to handle it.
